Nikolina from Croatia 2019

"Hi! My name is Nikolina and last summer I decided to visit Africa for the first time. It wasn't easy to choose the place to go and somehow I found myself buying ticket to Kenya. It was worth every single penny since I spent 3 wonderful weeks in Kenya, actually in a little village of Munami. My first contact with MCDC was thru a platform called Givingway. I decided to volunteer with MCDC for 2 main reasons. The first one was Vincent's openness to talk about various topics and clarify all possible issues before my visit. The second reason was the clear idea of what the MCDC is doing I've got from Vincent. Once I arrived everybody was so warm and welcoming, I truly felt like part of the MCDC family. First days we were visiting local farmers included in their project and a few schools around. When it comes to work, there is a big variety of things one can do. I helped with the first community library which is about to be open. Apart of that, during my stay we organized bicycle clinics. All local children who recieved bike donations in last 2 years could come and MCDC staff would repair their bicycles for free. The last day of my stay the new donation of 70 bicycles arrived, many people gathered in order to recieve them and it was perfect closing of my short volunteering experience with MCDC. They are in need of work on crowdfunding campaigns, search for volunteers or someone skilled in agriculture and business to share good practices with their farmers

“ Bonjour ! I’m Agathe and I came as a volunteer to support and help Matungu Community Development Charity.

I spent most of my early active life at working crazy hours to insure my future. After a burn out, I realised  that something was missing in my life: Human being.

One day I knew that sharing and helping will be the keys to live a better life for me and others.

During in my journey in Matungu community I helped on several items. First, I support the school by developing the library, to access to computers and tablets. I help in the organisations itself to update documents and create a website.

Meanwhile, I was creating my  project (poultry farm) based on experimentation to make the organisation less dependent of extern funds. My objective back to my country is to research for fund. To make my project becoming reality.

My month and a week has been an amazing experience with MCDC.

I want to say thank you to the all team, I felt at home here. Probably because people are really kind and very welcoming !

I will miss you.”

"We stayed in the project one week, short time... we felt it was too short and we would have liked to stay longer!
Vincent and his family are lovely people and they received and treated us in a very kind way. We really appreciate all they did for us :).
We helped the Community project teaching computer skills to the youths, giving some ideas and creating a blog for finding founds. They also teached us a the Kenian way of life :) We really enjoyed the experience because Vincent and all the team are doing really good job with the people, they are empowering local people!
We will come back one day, thank you so much!!!
Gracias!!!"

We spent 2 wonderful weeks in Munami village with Vincent and him team. Those people doing great deal, and we been very happy to help them!

We stayed in our own house in beautiful and quite place, and Vincent and him family gave for us everything best. We meet a lot different people, we looked true African life in rural areas. We visited two schools and communicated with children. We spent time in three towns with Vincent`s family members and him friends.

We tried to help Vincent with him organization, showed him different ways problems solving, ways to find new sponsors and followers. We had long conversations and shared experiences of our countries. Also we had enough time for ourself and for visiting different places around.

All people in this place are extremely friendly and very interesting. They really need your help and always open for new things and knowledge. I really recommend to all not indifferent people join Vincent and him team! You`ll have great experience in true Africa and have opportunity to contribute in development of not only Vincent`s organization, but in life Kenyan people generally.
